Emergency Winter Appeal
With the winter fast approaching, and the cold weather already affecting many of Palestinian families in Gaza and thousands of Syrian families on the border of Turkey and the neighbouring countries, who are presently exposed to the wind, rain, sleet and snow are living in tents, homes or facilities with no heat to keep them warm.
Save the Needy Worldwide is launching emergency winter appeal this year to take part in assisting these misfortune families.
Winter Appeal: Syrian Refugees
Over 2 million are estimated to be traumatised homeless Syrians
As the number of Syrian refugees fleeing to the neighbouring countries and Europe increases every day, the capacity of these countries to shelter Syrian refugees has diminished considerably. Many refugee families are living in sub-standard accommodation, such as improvised shelters, with little or no access to electricity, water and sanitation facilities. With the number of people fleeing the violence in Syria set to increase by millions of people by the end of the year, housing refugee families in shelter of an acceptable standard is rapidly becoming near impossible.
Winter is approaching fast for Syrian refugees at the borders of Turkey and in Europe who are facing night-time temperatures that regularly dip below zero. The harsh 2015-16 winter made refugees more vulnerable due to a lack of warm clothing and other winter items.
S.N.W. aim’s to hand out many shelters, blankets, food parcels, bread ,water and warm clothing to needy Syrian families.
Save the Needy Worldwide visited many Syrian families in Turkey and witnessed the conditions they lived in, which included shelters and some in houses where their roofs are covered with zinc sheeting with no insulation. When snow piles up on the roof, their homes become freezers. There is no electricity or heaters found and the families are already feeling the effects of the cold, their children are getting sick and they need your help. As the cold season approaches, responding quickly is crucial.Thousands of families are homeless desperately in need of blankets, warm clothing and food

The restrictions on trade and movement have been damaging to the economic climate in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. Over 46% of Palestinians in the West Bank live below the official poverty line, while in Gaza the figure is as high as 80%.
Throughout the West Bank and Gaza children grow up with dirty water, lack of education or run-down schools, unreliable electricity and insufficient medical care. Youths mature to find themselves in an economy with sky-high unemployment rates while parents grow old and face bad health problems, with limited medical supplies and reducing rates of survival.
Thousands of poor families living in damaged and crumbling homes in Gaza are unable to protect themselves against the winter cold. A restriction on buildings and construction material, a worsening economy and power cuts mean people cannot insulate their homes. They face a wet, cold and miserable winter.
Severe shortages of electricity, combined with the destruction of tunnels, which are needed for food and daily needs, are causing untold misery. In these desperate situations, the young and elderly are particularly vulnerable.

Narrated Haritha bin Wahab (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) saying,
"O people! Give in charity as a time will come upon you when a person will wander about with his object of charity and will not find anybody to accept it, and one (who will be requested to take it) will say, "If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but to-day I am not in need of it."”
